Abstract
Valeriy Mansurov is a President of Russian Society of Sociologists and one of the major sociologists in Russia.
In 2017 Valeriy Mansurov celebrated his 80th jubilee, in honour of which our journal prepared an interview about the past, the present and the future of sociology in Russia and beyond.
The International symposium “in Memory of Wilbur Schramm” became a chance to talk with Valeriy Mansurov about the interlinks between the sociology and communication studies, as Schramm was one of the “Founding Fathers” of this academic field in the United States.
In the interview Valeriy Mansurov tells about his way into sociology and the roots of his interest in this science, about the founding of Sociology as the academic field in the USSR, as well as about the founding of Institute of Social Sciences in the USSR and the Russian Society of Sociologists, which he leads from the year of 1998.
